1. Starting in a Good Way

Our collective journey starts in a good way the Lyons Bluff trailhead in circle and in ceremony.

  • The Gathering: we gather as one community to listen, reflect, and set intentions.

  • Elders & Drumming: Local Elders will welcome us to the land, share words of wisdom, and lead an opening circle. The heartbeat of the drums will start our day with proper intentions, connecting us to the territory and to each other.

2. The Mountain Launch: Staggered Starts

Once our spirits are aligned, the mountain challenges begin with staggered start times to ensure safety and space on the steep switchbacks:

  • First Wave (The Racers): Challenge 1 competitors take off first. They bring high-energy, fast-paced momentum to the trail to push their physical limits against the clock.

  • Second Wave (The Hikers): Challenge 2 hikers start shortly after. This group moves at a deliberate, slower pace, focusing on quiet reflection, healing, and deep connection with the land and their trail partners.

3. The Park Launch: Challenge 3 (5km)

The focal point of our day then transitions down the mountain to Lakeside Park

  • The Timing: Approximately 2 hours after the mountain runners and hikers begin their trek, the brand-new 5km Lakeside Park Loop officially kicks off.

  • The Strategy: This window ensures that while our mountain participants are navigating the peak, our park runners, youth cohorts, and families are launching into a high-energy waterfront environment.

4. The Unified Finish Line & Comm

The absolute highlight of the day happens at Lakeside Park, where the paths of all three challenges converge into a massive celebration of solidarity.

As racers, hikers, and park runners cross the unified finish line, we enter our main afternoon community program:

  • Youth Led Dancing and Drumming We drum and dance to heal. community circle featuring more drumming and traditional dancing lessons.

  • Community Nourishment: Free food and gathering spaces will be available for all participants to recharge together.

  • Deepening Our Commitment: This space is intentionally built for meaningful connection. It is our opportunity to cross paths with neighbors, share stories from the trail, and deepen our collective local commitment to truth, reconciliation, protecting our shared lands, and uplifting healthy youth.
