The 4th Annual Movement is Medicine offers three distinct pathways. Whether you want to test your speed against the clock, connect deeply with the land on a rugged hike, or join a high-energy, accessible celebration at the park, you can choose the journey that fits your body and your goals.

Challenge 1: Elephant Mountain Race (Timed & Competitive)

  • The Medicine: High-energy, driven, strong, and fast.

  • The Distance: 16 Kilometers (1,200-meter vertical climb from Lyons Bluff to the Big Orange Bridge).

  • The Experience: This option is for those who find their mental clarity through pushing peak physical boundaries. It is a fully timed race where you can test your speed and use the collective energy of other runners to pull you up the peak. While you are chasing a strong pace, the core intention remains rooted in connecting deeply with the rugged terrain beneath your feet.

  • Best Suited For: Seasoned trail runners, competitive athletes, and anyone looking to find their medicine through an intense, fast-paced physical breakthrough.

Challenge 2: Elephant Mountain Hike (Slower Pace & Connection)

  • The Medicine: Grounded, communal, intentional, and reflective.

  • The Distance: 16 Kilometers (The exact same mountain route as the Race).

  • The Experience: You do not need to run to experience the healing power of the mountain. This challenge strips away the pressure of the clock so you can find your medicine at a slower, more deliberate pace. Slow down, breathe in the mountain air, and experience healing through shared effort. Hike it solo for quiet reflection, or tackle the climb alongside a friend, a family member, or a youth you are mentoring.

  • Best Suited For: Backcountry hikers, families, mentors training with a partner, and anyone who wants to honor the journey of reconciliation through connection rather than speed.

Challenge 3: The Lakeside Park Community Route (5km)

  • The Medicine: Inclusive, celebratory, flat, and family-friendly.

  • The Distance: 5 Kilometers (Loop course entirely within Lakeside Park).

  • The Experience: Brand new for this year! We created this flat, accessible route to ensure that training experience or physical limitations never bar someone from participating in community wellness.

  • Best Suited For: Local youth training cohorts, elders, families with strollers, casual joggers, walkers, and anyone who wants to be part of the community healing without the mountain climb.
